On The Issues
EZ Pass and MTA Accountability
Unaccountable agencies like EZ-Pass and the MTA treat Staten Islanders like an ATM. Overcharges, poor service, no way to fix problems. Sam will fight to make these agencies more accountable to the people who actually pay their bills. Staten Islanders deserve transparency, fair billing, and a government that responds when things go wrong.
Battery Storage Saftey
Sam leads the fight to shut down dangerous battery storage sites in our neighborhoods. These facilities pose serious fire and safety risks to families and first responders. Sam successfully shut down the major Bulls Head and Travis site, and he won’t stop until every one of these hazards is removed from our communities. Our neighborhoods are not testing grounds for unproven technology.
Fighting Socialist Policies
Socialist policies make everything more expensive. Energy bills, property taxes, tolls, groceries. Sam fights back against the radical agenda coming out of Albany that drives up costs for working families. He opposes congestion pricing schemes, green energy mandates that spike your utility bill, and tax hikes disguised as investments. Staten Islanders shouldn’t have to choose between heating their homes and putting food on the table.
Fair Property Taxes
The current system assesses property values, which are often outdated and incorrect, leading to disparities in taxation. Staten Island has a significant number of single and two-family homes that are evaluated at higher rates than larger multifamily buildings. As a result, many Staten Island residents are paying more in property taxes than they should be, which is causing financial hardship for many families.
Additionally, the city’s property tax system is based on a formula that has not been updated in decades. This outdated formula does not reflect current market conditions and property values, which means that many homeowners are paying too much in property taxes. This is especially true in Staten Island, where many residents are struggling to make ends meet. It is time for the city to address this issue and update the property tax system to make it more equitable for all New Yorkers.
Law and Order
Sam backs the blue and wants criminals held accountable. That means repealing bail reform so dangerous criminals don’t walk free hours after arrest. Our police do their jobs, then judges let criminals right back onto the streets. That’s not justice, and Sam will fight to end it.
Animal Rights
Shelters are overcrowded and underfunded, and they often resort to euthanizing animals as a means of controlling the population. However, euthanizing healthy animals is cruel and unnecessary, and it goes against the very idea of animal rights. By supporting animal rights, we can work towards finding humane alternatives to kill shelters and prevent the needless killing of innocent animals.
It is essential to support animal rights in this context because every animal deserves a chance at a happy and healthy life. Many of the animals in kill shelters are abandoned or surrendered by their owners and are not given the chance to find a loving home. By advocating for animal rights, we can raise awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and adoption. We can also support initiatives that provide funding and resources to shelters and promote adoption events to find these animals permanent homes. Ultimately, by supporting animal rights, we can work towards ending the cycle of animal overpopulation and ensure that every animal is treated with the respect and compassion they deserve.
Education and Community Funding
Sam has delivered millions of dollars in funding for Staten Island schools, nonprofits, and substance abuse treatment providers. He knows that strong communities need properly funded institutions, and he makes sure Staten Island gets its fair share. No more being last in line after Albany takes care of everyone else first.
