Sam Pirozzolo was elected to represent Staten Island’s West Shore in the New York State Assembly on November 8, 2022.  A devoted husband and father, successful businessman, and lifelong Staten Islander, he has spent his entire life advocating for Staten Island’s working families and continues to build on that record in Albany.

In just his first term, Sam earned a reputation as a no-nonsense representative who has been outspoken on the issues that matter most to his more than 150,000 constituents.  From the out-of-control cost of living that is forcing families to make difficult decisions to the unprecedented migrant crisis that jeopardizes public safety, Sam does not back down when fighting for us.

A strong and unapologetic advocate for our students, first responders, veterans, and all Staten Islanders, Sam has worked across the aisle to secure historic investments in our community, including nearly $500K in grants to support our schools and community organizations, a $12M portion of the state’s Opioid Settlement Fund to support our community’s fight against the opioid epidemic, and an expansion of the highly-coveted resident toll discount for our bridges.  He has also been outspoken against the placement of migrant shelters and battery storage sites in our community, both of which critically jeopardize public safety and public health.

Sam has operated his family-owned optical practice for more than three decades and runs his government office a lot like his business – where everyone is welcome and treated like family.  Before his election to the State Assembly, Sam served in a number of roles, including as Vice President of the New York City Parents Union and President of Community Education Council 31 on Staten Island.
